By Américo Teixeira Jr. – The president of the Brazilian Automobile Confederation (CBA), Cleyton Pinteiro, confirmed that Brazil has a new representative on the FIA’s karting commission from 2016. It is the leader Giovanni Guerra, president of Maranhão State Automobile Federation and representative of the CBA in CIK FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

Giovanni Guerra is replacing Felipe Giaffone, who until then had accumulated the functions in the kart and truck commissions, being now focused on activities related to truck competitions. The Guerra indication was approved in December, in Paris, during the meeting of the World Council of Motor Sport.

Dental surgeon and important member of Brazilian Motorsport, Giovanni Guerra lives in Imperatriz, city of Brazilian Northeast, where he build the track karting for development of sport in the region.

He was responsible also for the foundation of the local federation and was the first manager to lead karting national competition with step in the Northeast.

Was representative of Brazilian karting years before of the election to FIA, recently conducted Brazilian drivers to european karting, CIK FIA Karting Academy Trophy and Ferrari Driver Academy. In 2014, Giovanni Guerra headed the Brazilian delegation that took part in a kart race in Imola, in the triple champion Ayrton Senna memory.

Giovanni Guerra took over the FIA because is largely responsible for the development of karting in Brazil, mainly by creating competitions at the national level and strengthening the sport in regional terms.
