(Monday, October 18, 2010) The Brazilian driver Helio Castroneves, of the Team Penske in Indycar, is already in Australia, where he will compete in this weekend in the ARMOR ALL GOLD COAST 600, race of V8 Supercars Championship Series. His team will be Wilson Security Racing with Ford Falcon FG.
It is a monocoque chassis equipped with a 5 liter V8 engine and estimated power of 635 hp, limited to a maximum of 7,500 rpm. Without the pilot, the minimum weight is 1335 kg and the total capacity of the fuel tank is 120 liters. The speed is 294 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3s8. All cars use Dunlop tires and fuel E85 (85% ethanol from cane sugar and 15% gasoline).
Castroneves will be alongside the other international guests: Alan Menu, Alex Tagliani, Andy Priaulx, Dario Franchitti, David Brabham, Fabrizio Giovanardi, Gianni Morbidelli, Jacques Villeneuve, Mika Salo, Patrick Long, Ryan Briscoe Scott Dixon, Scott Pruett, Sebastien Bourdais, Tiago Monteiro, Yvan Muller and Will Power.
The first contact with the car will be on Wednesday, 20, when there will be a workout in which the invited foreign pilots could become familiar with the teams and cars. The practice is scheduled to begin at 8:00 am and will last until 17:00 (local time, 12 hours ahead of Sao Paulo). The practice will take place at Queensland Raceway circuit, a mixed route of 3.2 km in length which is suggestive address on Champions Way at Willowbank, about 100 km west of Surfer’s Paradise.
